Medis – Community, joy & lifelong learning
The Adult Education Institute was founded in 1947 and offers residents of Åland aged 16 and over opportunities for meaningful leisure activities, community, and lifelong learning through courses in non-formal education.
The Citizens’ Institute is financed by the Government of Åland, the City of Mariehamn and all collaborating municipalities on Åland, and Medis is administered by the City of Mariehamn under agreement. Participant course fees are an important part of our financing.
